1. Power supply wirings


There is a dedicated power cable supporting with the motherboard. The power cable is separated into one red line and one black line. The red line is connected with DC 12V/24V power positive, and the black one is connected with the negative.The power interface on the board side is with buckle to prevent incorrect insert, but still need to pay attention to that. Incorrect connection of the positive and negative poles of the power supply may burn the motherboard。The correct power wiring as shown below.

2. Motherboard motor drive module socket introduction


Lerdge-X motherboard motor drive port adopts the same interface definition with pololu module. The motherboard driver interface definition as shown below

Motor enable control port, the system uses low-level enable program.


When the motor needs to be enabled, the ENABLE port outputs a low level (0V)


When the motor needs to be disabled, the ENABLE port outputs a high level (5V)


The port control logic can not be modified.

The 3 pairs of pins in the mainboard motor module sockets can be used to set the subdivision of the motor drive module. For the specific setting method, please refer to the drive module introduction table.

3. Install the motor drive


Note: When plugging in the motor drive module, please turn off the power. Do not operate while power is on. Please distinguish the direction of the motor drive module, or it may damage the board!!!


To improve the user experience, the colors of the Lerdge motor driver pins are corresponding to the colors of the motherboard driver sockets. Please insert the drivers correspond to the color, do not insert the wrong direction or the wrong place! ! !  The Lerdge drivers are recommended.


4. Connect the stepper motor

Before connecting the stepper motor, need to check the motor line order. The normal two-phase stepper motor has 4 drive lines, a pair of two, namely a motor coil. Usually, the motor manufacturer will provide the line order drawing. As shown in the following figure, the AC is a group and the BD is a group. Respectively, the terminal numbers 1 and 3 is a group, 4 and 6 is a group.

If there is no drawing, first rotate the output shaft of the motor by hand and feel the resistance when the motor rotates. Then, shorten any one of the four lines of the motor with the other three lines, respectively. For each short circuit, rotate the motor output shaft again by hand. When the rotation resistance of the output shaft is obviously increased, it can be determined that two drive lines short-circuited together are output by one coil of the motor, they are a group, and the other two as another group.

After determining the line grouping, mark the two groups of lines as Group A and Group B respectively (Just assume one group is A , then the other group is B), and then connect the two motor wires of Group A respectively to the A + and A- of a motor port on the mainboard (there is no need to distinguish between A + and A- of the two lines). Connect the two motor wires of the Group B to the B+ and B- of the same motor port  (No need to distinguish B+ and B-). To change the position of two motor lines in any group can change the rotation direction of motor output shaft. For non-corexy printer  users, the motor direction can be directly modified in the system. However, users of corexy models need to pay attention that sometimes need to adjust the motor's line order to to change the corexy running direction.

In order to meet the needs of various models, the Lerdge-K motherboard integrates an EX axis to assist other axes. The user can synchronize the EX axis with any other axis to realize the dual motor drive mode of one axis. The user can set the function of the EX axis motor in the 'Advanced Setting' option of 'Model Setting'. The setup menu is shown below. Since the system is a synchronous axis function, not a synchronous motor function, so some models cannot be synchronized in some models.

5. Connect the limit switch

First of all, explain what do the limit switch normal open and normal close mean.

Usually a micro switch has 3 ports, namely C terminal, NO terminal and NC terminal, respectively means

C: Common port

NO: Normal Open

NC: Normal Close

As shown below:

When using C and NC, the C terminal and the NC terminal is connected together when the switch is not triggered. And when triggered, C and NC disconnected. This connection is Normal Close.


When using C and NO, the C terminal and the NC terminal are disconnected when the switch is not triggered. When the switch is triggered, the C terminal and the NO terminal are connected and conducted together. This connection method is Normal Open.


Before connecting the limit switch, you need to determine the pin definition of the switch. If used the limit switch module produced by lerdge , the wiring and trigger mode of the switch are set to normally open wiring and high level trigger. If you use a separate micro switch, please refer to the picture on the below:

Endstop is more accurately understood as a switch on the Lerdge-K main board. It is mainly used to confirm the position of each axis when moving each axis. Therefore, only X, Y and Z can be connected in actual use. E0 and E1 are temporarily No open features.


Whether the limit switch wiring is correct can be viewed in the limit switch setting mode interface, as shown in the figure below.


HIG: indicates a high trigger mode

LOW: indicates low trigger mode

N-O: indicates that the limit switch is normally open.

N-C: indicates that the limit switch is normally closed.

The limit switch in front of the option indicates the icon. When the limit switch is triggered, the small horizontal line of the icon will be pressed. When the limit switch is not triggered, the small horizontal line will pop up.


6. Connect the Heating Tube 

Use a small flat-blade screwdriver to loosen the two screws on the terminal of the heat head, and then peel the heating wire for some length till the copper wire inside exposed, and insert the copper wire into the terminal, tighten the corresponding screws. Make sure the heating wire will not fall out. The heating wire is connected in positive and negative freely. Print head heating block power can not be greater than 80W. Please pay attention not to short-circuit the wiring, or it will burn the power port when turn on the heating function.

When using a 24V power supply, use a 24V heating rod. If using a 12V power supply, use a 12V heating rod.


7. Connect the print head temperature sensor

The temperature sensor port is “HOTEND0 SENSOR” and “HOTEND1 SENSOR”,the NTC100K B3950 thermistor or PT100 two-wire thermistor can be used. If you need to print high temperature materials, you can purchase high temperature measuring resistor and high power heating tube here.

NTC100K B3950 temperature range: 10 °C ~ 260 °C

PT100 temperature range: -50 °C ~ 580 °C

If you use single-head printing or two-in-one-out print heads,only connect the temperature measurement interface of HOTEND0 SENSOR


8. Connect the heated bed

The Lerdge-K motherboard can directly use the hot bed with power less than 150W, connect the hot bed heating line to the 'HOT-BED' interface, and the hot bed temperature measuring line to the“HOTBEDSENSOR”interface, hot bed temperature measurement only supports NTC100K-B3950 thermal resistance sensor,and does not support other signals of temperature sensor.The specific wiring is shown below:

If the hot bed power is more than 150W or if an AC electric bed is used, use a hot bed high power expansion module to bridge or use a solid state relay (SSR) bridge. The specific wiring method is shown below:

9. Connect the cooling fan

Please pay attention to the fan function definition when plugging in the cooling fan:

MODEL FAN(0,1): (model cooling fan interface) is controlled by G code and used to dissipate the print model.

HOTEND SINK FAN(0,1): (Print head throat cooling fan interface) is controlled by temperature and heating behavior (the print head temperature is higher than 40 °C or the heating function is turned on, the fan starts to work, otherwise the fan stops working), used for the heat pipe above the print head.

MOTOR FAN: (motor cooling fan) is controlled by the working state of the motor. Any one of the six motors on the main board is enabled, the fan starts to work. If all the motors are in the standby state, the fan stops working.

Note that the port is positive or negative, and the wrong connection may cause the fan to be damaged. The voltage of the port is turned on ,is the same as the power supply voltage of the motherboard. If you use a 24V power supply, use a 24V fan. If you use a 12V power supply, use a 12V fan.

Please note: The fan is an inductive load with a large starting current, usually three times the normal operation. The maximum load current of the system fan interface is 1A. Please ensure that the normal working current of the fan used at 12V is not more than 200mA. The normal working current of the fan used at 24V is not more than 100mA. Otherwise, the motherboard fan interface may be damaged.


 10.Connect LED lighting strip

Connect the LED light strip to the LED port on the board, Please pay attention to distinguish between positive and negative. The light strip current used should be no more than 1A. The voltage of the LED strip interface is the same as that of the power supply. If use a 24V power supply, please use 24V LED light strip, or use 12V LED light strips connected in series. If 12V power supply, then 12V LED strip. The LED lighting strip can be ordered here.

11.Connect RGB LED lighting strips

Lerdge-K motherboard REG-LED interface uses a common anode circuit, please use the common anode RGB-LED lighting strip, pay attention to distinguish the polarity. Do not use more than 1A of light bar current. The LED lamp interface supply voltage is the same as the power supply voltage. If using a 24V power supply, use a 24V RGB-LED strip, or use a 12V REG-LED strip in series. If using a 12V power supply, use a 12V REG-LED strip. The RGB-LED strip color can only be modified by the G code.

12. Connect the LCD screen

Use the cable to connect the LCD module with the motherboard. Make sure the blue side upwards and the cable without any skew when connecting the cable. DO NOT insert or remove the cable/LCD screen when the power is on. Do not turn the cover of the screen interface violently, or it will make it awkward!

13.How to set up the extruder

The Lerdge-K motherboard can currently support single-input and single-out mode, dual-input and single-out mode, dual-in and dual-out mode.

Please note: The system's dual-input and single-out mode is independent operation mode, and does not support two-color mixing and simultaneous feeding mode.

The motherboard system will determine which mode the current system print head works in according to the relevant settings. The specific judgment is as follows:


1. When the temperature of hotend1 is not recognized by the system and the step value of the E1 extruder is set to 0, the system will judge that it is currently in single-input and single-out mode, and the print head of the main interface and print interface is displayed as “Lerdge-K Motherboard Basic Wiring Instructions” icon.


2. When the temperature of hotend1 is not recognized by the system, but the step value of the E1 extruder is not 0, the system will judge that it is currently in  double-input single-out mode, and the print head of the main interface and print interface is displayed as”Lerdge-K Motherboard Basic Wiring Instructions”icon.


 3. When the system can recognize the temperature of hotend1, regardless of whether the step value of the E1 extruder is 0, the system will judge that it is  currently in dual-in and dual-out mode, and the main interface and print interface will display two print head icons “Lerdge-K Motherboard Basic Wiring InstructionsLerdge-K Motherboard Basic Wiring Instructions”. . (If the step value of the E1 extruder is 0, the system will automatically set the step value of E1 to the same value as the E0 extruder step value).
