Motors Parameter Settings Part--3


Acceleration:


X/Y/Z/E axis maximum acceleration: set the maximum speed of each axis when moving. The greater the acceleration, the faster the changes in the speed of each axis. (Please note that excessive acceleration may cause the machine to the vibration intensifies and even lead to motor locked-rotor when it's running.)


Printing Acceleration: the integrated acceleration when the printer is printing items. This value directly affects the reaction sensitivity of changing the printing direction or speed  during the printing process. It is recommended to set as 120% of the larger one between the X axis maximum acceleration and the Y axis maximum acceleration.


Non-printing Acceleration: The acceleration of the hotend when moving but without extruding the filament. This value directly affects the reaction sensitivity of changing the printing direction or speed during the no-printing moving process. It is recommended to set as 120% of the printing acceleration.


Extrusion Acceleration: The sensitivity of the extruder when it is extruding or withdrawing. The higher the value, the better performance it will have. Please note that excessive values can cause the extruder to fail, the recommended value:t 800mm/s.

Limiting Speed:


Maximum Speed: Limit the maximum speed that can be reached of the hotend in X (Y / Z) axis direction. This is also the move speed of hotend when pause or resume printing in X (Y/Z) axis direction.


Safe Speed: The maximum speed at which the hotend stops without the need of an acceleration or deceleration process.


Min Non-load Speed: The slowest move speed of the hotend when it's moving but without extruding the filament.


Min Printing Speed: The slowest move speed of the hotend when it's printing the model.

Mutation Speed:


X (Y/Z/E) axis Mutation Speed:  The upper limit speed of the hotend in X (Y/Z/E) axis direction that can be safely changed when the acceleration or deceleration process is not involved.

Homing Speed:


X (Y/Z) axis Homing Speed: The speed of the hotend in X (Y/Z) axis direction when homing.

Step Value:



X (Y/Z) axis Step Value: The number of drive pulses required for the X (Y/Z) axis motor for each 1 mm movement.


Extruder 1(2) axis Step Value: The number of drive pulses required for the extruder motor for each 1 mm of filament extrusion.


Timing pulley setting method:

 

(360 °/motor step angle) x subdivision number / circumference of the timing pulley.


For example, using A4988 motor drive module, 16 subdivision, 1.8° Stepper motor, and 20-tooth 2GT timing pulley.


The number of pulses required for the motor to rotate one revolution: (360° /1.8°) X16 = 3200


We've learned that the perimeter of 20-tooth 2GT timing pulley is 40mm, namely, when the stepper motor drives 20-tooth 2GT timing pulley to turn a circle, 3200 pulses runs 40mm, then the step value is 3200/40 = 80.


Ballscrew set method: 

(360 °/motor step angle) x subtdivision number / screw lead


For example: use A4988 motor drive module, 16 subdivision, 1.8 ° stepper motor, 1204 ball screw.


The number of pulses required to turn the motor through a circle: (360 °/1.8 °) x16 = 3200.


We've learned that the 1204 ball screw lead is 4mm, namely, when stepper motor drive the 1204 ball screw turn a circle, 3200 pulses runs 4mm, then: step value = 3200/4 = 800.


E-axis step value calculation formula:  (360 ° / motor step angle) x subdivision number/ circumference of the drive gear (circumference = π x diameter).

Direction: 


X-axis Direction: The X-axis motor relative rotation direction when the hotend move to the origin in X-axis direction.


Y-axis Direction: The Y-axis motor relative rotation direction when the hotend move to the origin in Y-axis direction.


Z-axis Direction: The Z-axis motor relative rotation direction when the hotend move to the origin in Z-axis direction.


Extruder 1 axis Direction:  The relative rotation direction of the extruder motor when Extruder 1 extruding filament.


Extruder 2 axis Direction: The relative rotation direction of the extruder motor when Extruder 2 extruding filament.
